Flowquip will be exhibiting their range of Instrumentation for the blending of bio fuels, at the forthcoming Biodiesel Expo in Newark on the 17/18th October.

Accurate flow measurement is essential for the blending of bio fuels, for loading, off-loading and for energy consumption monitoring.

Their ranges of VAF high accuracy positive displacement meters; Endress + Hauser mass flow meters; Alma and Flowsure turbine meters are suitable for large applications including custody transfer; bunkering & loading; mixing & blending, and the smaller applications such as fuel consumption & test bed metering down to 10 millilitres per minute.

The Contrec Flow Computer range has applications which include custody transfer with temperature compensation, road tanker loading and off loading, bio fuel blending and fuel consumption monitoring.

Flowquip Introduce ‘FlowCal’ Calibration and Test Facility

Flowquip Ltd, the leading Flow and Instrumentation specialists are pleased to announce the arrival of their new Water calibration facility ‘Flow Cal’.
Using master flowmeters traceable to Swiss National Standards, the rig will allow Flowquip to test and Calibrate Flow meters on water to up to 3000 l/min.
The new ‘FlowCal’ calibration rig uses stainless steel pipework and a stainless steel tank. A separate water filtration system has been included to make sure that the water remains clean and free of contaminants.
Its 3000 litre/min pump is controlled by a PLC via a variable speed drive allowing fine control of flow rates.
The rig employs not just one, but four primary meters. Each has been calibrated to national standards to give both accuracy and traceability. Whats more, each primary meter can be cross-checked against the others to ensure the highest possible accuracy is maintained at all times.
The new rig is an addition to the existing Flowquip Shellsol Calibration Facility. The Shellsol rig has EU weights and Measures traceability and has been used for many years to test and calibrate Additive and Fuel Consumption Flowmeters over a flow range of 1, to 150 l/min. Flowquip also offer temperature and pressure calibrations both traceable to UKAS.

New McCrometer representative in the UK

Flowquip’s Managing director, Roger Bancroft said  “We are pleased to be supporting the V-Cone. New on-site Calibration facility

Flowquip's in-house flowmeter calibration facility is primarily used by the Service Department for the calibration and function-testing of VAF positive displacement flowmeters which have been returned for service or re-certification. The rig can test over a flow range of 1 to 120 l/min and is fully traceable to EC Weights & Measures Standards. Handling calibration work in-house offers several important benefits to our customers

1. An "As-Found" calibration check can determine flowmeter performance prior to fitting any spare parts. In this way spares are only used where necessary - keeping costs down
2. Calibration work is carried out quickly so reducing downtime to a minimum
3. Cost is significantly lower than that of a bespoke Testing House
4. Low cost Function-Testing is offered where a full traceable calibration is not required

All calibration results are tabulated and presented to the customer in the form of an official Calibration Certificate.

The rig is also used for function-testing other flowmeter technologies (e.g. turbines, mass meters etc) and has even been used to check the set-points for simple flow switches!
